For legal reasons, we’re not allowed to say the name of the professional football championship game taking place this Sunday. But we can tell you that a great way to enjoy the action is by making yourself some infused guacamole, and putting it in, say, a super bowl.
Happy Thanksgiving from Sol Flower! No matter what your celebration looks like, we can all agree that a little gratitude will go an even longer way this year. So we’ll pretend like it’s our turn at the table and share what we’re thankful for first:
The cure for all your cooped-upedness is finally here. After a record-setting number of days over 100 degrees in the Valley, fall temps have decided to make their fashionable late entrance and beckon us all outside. There’s no denying the psychological pull of the great outdoors, and there’s actually surprising science behind it: getting out for a hike, or going camping, actually makes us feel more connected to other people and our fundamental need to find community.
When it comes to bananas, we understand the appeal (we’ll be here all week!). But seriously folks, the banana is a versatile and incredibly healthy addition to your diet. What other fruit can lay claim to a starring role in both pancakes and cream pie? Anytime is banana time, and we’ve got a drink recipe that will have you enjoying them by the bunch.
This Friday, August 21st, we’re tossing our patients a pretty sweet piece of swag at our Sun City and Tempe locations. Swing by either dispensary to snag your Sol Flower-branded frisbee (*with a purchase of $100 or more) to take with you to the park for some spaced-out fun.
Justin Cue was born in Winslow, Arizona, but raised in the Midwest, giving him a unique perspective on the cannabis industry and attitude of his home state. He’s been the General Manager of Sol Flower Sun City since March, meaning he was faced with unforeseen challenges right away in creating a safe in-store experience for patients, and just recently moved into a General Manager role at the Tempe location. We chatted with Justin about what makes the west coast unique, what makes cannabis different than coffee and how Sol Flower busts common myths about what a dispensary should be.
Profundities run rampant in cannabis culture. Ordinary items, songs, locations, even numbers often take on new, deeper meanings when examined through a danker lens. Surely it took a deeply philosophical mind under the thrall of freshly-torched shatter to look at today’s date on the calendar, imagine it inverted, and marvel at the waxy serendipity of what was taking place.
Put your presents under the cacao tree, because World Chocolate Day is here! Whether you treat chocolate as an indulgence or a lifestyle, July 7th is an occasion to celebrate the sweet stuff in all its forms.
A gentle afternoon rainstorm. Putting on freshly laundered socks. Cat memes. Some things in life just cannot be improved upon. Ice cream was once on this very short list, too - but no longer. We found a way to make it better. Sure, sprinkles tried. Those fudge shells that harden on impact had a nice run. But no cone topper has ever made us feel closer to the deities of dessert than sauce made from Good Things Coming Very Cherry Fruit Jellies.
While 4/20 is the most recognized unofficial global cannabis holiday, we at Sol Flower are partial to 6/18. That’s because on this dank day in 1939, the legendary marijuana legalization and decriminalization advocate Jack Herer was born. ‘Jack Herer!?’ you might say. ‘Isn’t that like one of the most primo strains on the market?’ And to that we say, it’s only fitting that one of medical cannabis’ most beloved strains is named after the man they called The Hemperor.
Namastoke everyone, and welcome to the benefits of pairing cannabis with yoga. Grab your mat and your bud and meet us with an open mind. Yoga has been practiced for centuries to alleviate stress, reduce physical pain and awaken the body and mind to new experiences. Sounds familiar, right? And while yoga is designed to produce a “natural high” when done right, that doesn’t mean you can’t enhance its best attributes through medication with cannabis.
What to get for the mom who has everything? You know, the aches and pains, mild anxiety, and inflammation from all those years of tending to your every need and loving you with her whole body and soul. There are lots of reasons she deserves to feel good this year, not the least of which is all that time she’s having to spend cooped up at home. If your mom is a cannabis patient, we have 7 Strains that double as great Mother’s Day gift ideas for the woman who means so much to you.
Today is 4/20, also known as the high holy day of the cannabis calendar. In any normal year we’d see weed parties and backyard smokeouts aplenty, mixed in with peaceful protests from groups seeking to legalize marijuana in their state or nation.
Though she was thankfully able to keep her hands clean, cannabis educator and Director of Patient Services at Sol Flower Dispensaries, Jane Fix, joins The Know Your Dose hosts for this episode on cannabis culture and its evolution over the years.
The world may be on edge right now, but we’re over here putting our energy toward ways to make it through. As we become better acquainted than ever with our couches and kitchens, maintaining a sense of calm and focusing on our collective well-being are taking top priority. This too shall pass!
Cannabis and beer. Separately, they’re enjoyed for their flavor profiles and desired effects on the mind and body. While each carries a unique culture and history of its own, today’s evolving attitude toward both has legitimized this pair’s standing in the popular zeitgeist: we like to get boozy, and we like to get high. And we increasingly like to do both at the same time.
When it comes to things that make you feel good, it’s hard to beat cannabis and chocolate. And as the old saying goes, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em - which is why chocolate in its many forms is such a popular base for edible products.
