If you awoke to the sound of buzzing blenders in the air, don’t be alarmed: today is Global Smoothie Day! Each October 3, smoothie-lovers around the world mix it up with local ingredients and interesting combinations to make blended delights that are good for mind, body and spirit.
We’re doing our part for the global smoothie economy with a new recipe that shakes up tradition to leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed as you settle into fall. Mission number one in any great smoothie is picking the right base - and we’re going all in on hemp milk.
Why hemp and not dairy? Well, for one, hemp seeds are non-psychoactive components of the cannabis indica plant, so we’re already starting in familiar territory. Hemp milk is also higher in protein and healthy fat than other alternatives like almond milk, while carrying fewer calories than cow’s milk.
Chef Teresa Hansen spices up this recipe with fresh ginger and adds a sweet touch with mango for a totally unique flavor profile. Then there’s the kicker - Copperstate Farms tinctures in either CBD or THC to give you control over just how smooth you want to feel.
Mango Ginger Hemp Smoothie
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 2 servings; 10mg CBD/10mg THC per serving (per mL)
4 ounces coconut water
4 ounces hemp milk
6 tablespoons hemp seeds
1 cup frozen or fresh mango cubes
1 cup fresh baby spinach
½ inch knob of fresh ginger, peeled
1-2 mint leaves
1 lime, juiced
2 mL 1:1 Copperstate Farms Tincture
1. Blend coconut water, hemp milk, hemp seeds mango, spinach, ginger, mint and lime juice until smooth and creamy.
2. Add tincture to blend and pulse to combine.
3. Pour into glasses and serve.
