We’re passing out frisbees! Here’s how to lower your disc risk.

This Friday, August 21st, we’re tossing our patients a pretty sweet piece of swag at our Sun City and Tempe locations. Swing by either dispensary to snag your Sol Flower-branded frisbee (*with a purchase of $100 or more) to take with you to the park for some spaced-out fun.

When it comes to socially-distanced sports, standing 20 feet away from others and flinging a plastic disc to each other seems pretty safe. We certainly recommend it over other pandemic possibilities like shirts vs. skins basketball, tag team wrestling or musical chairs. However, being overly cautious is still the smartest and safest idea when it comes to these things. You need the company of others to maximize your fun – a frisbee’s not a boomerang, after all – so we’ve pulled a couple ideas to help you play safe.

Change up the game

If you’ve ever played Ultimate, you know that it’s a game of athleticism and, oftentimes, contact. While there are certainly ways to amend the rules of the competition to keep interaction at a minimum, we like the idea of trying something new – like double disc court! This two-person team sport mimics doubles tennis and can be safely played at a distance, even from your own teammate.

Swap out the discs

There’s no avoiding touching the shared surface that is the frisbee itself (unless you’re really bad at catching it – no shame in that game!). While we don’t have to lecture you on the finer points of hand washing, we can recommend keeping a few discs handy to make sure you always have a clean one nearby. The best way to amass a stash of multiple discs? Bring your whole frisbee-tossing crew to Sol Flower on Friday!
